Same building as my Siding Question thread.
Stucco building. Your normal Therma Tru/JeldWen/Stanley door installed. The brickmold is up against the wall.
I’m going to wrap the brickmold. He also wants it wrapped into the door stop.
I don’t bend metal very often, so any of this is like learning al over again, but I think I can do it.
What about at the head? There is siding to be installed about a foot above the door (framed gable). Should I run metal over the jamb head then up to and tucked under the siding?
Or just wrap the head and silicone where the metal hits the wall.
Can’t wait to get this little job done, then do his wainscot paneling.
Never done that either, but I’m looking forward to it
Thanks.

better ask your customer what he wants!
I did, after I posted. He went with what he think looks best. Thinks it will work fine. I, however, am suspect.I do ask the customers what they think looks best. I don't think I've ever asked them what will WORK best.Glenn
Remember, the person that pays the bills are right, all you can do is suggest. Right or wrong, then you can make the decision if you want to do it.
As far as what works best, what you described with running the alun. up behind the sinding is probably correct.
I agree, but he said just run it to the wall and silicone. OK.Silicone best or butyl (?) or poly caulk better?
I always used butal OSI.
Ive done It both ways but if its open now without siding I would like to have the head bend up stuck under the house wrap
Or I would use some grace vycor to seal the joint from the wall to the aluminum
Maybe I missed it but was this vinal siding? If so I belive its designed to leak onto the wall and have been trying to take more extreme care flasing windows and doors and dont really want to rely on caulk forever
As someone said though that OSI seems to be some of the best stuff Ive used as a bounus It comes in tons of colors although Ive never looked to see if its paintable
