Priced some Andersen windows yesterday for the remodel we’re doing. Got a quote on the 200 series and the “Woodright†series (9 double-hung/double-tilt, 1 casement, 1 tempered picture window, and 1 Double French patio door).
<!—-><!—-> <!—->
Total cost 200 Series: $6,013.43
Total cost 400 Woodright: $8663.18
<!—-> <!—->
All units are standard sizes with low-e glass, grilles, & screens. These prices are from a regional distributor and include freight & tax. Only other dealer in this area is Home Depot (haven’t checked their prices).

Go with the 200’s? Woodrights worth $2600 more? Keep shopping?

Appreciate any comments, cautions, etc.

New knowledge is priceless.
Used knowledge is even more valuable.

I'm kind of surprised. I don't think $2,600.00 more is too bad for the woodwrights.
I haven't used them but they look like a really nice window. If your going for more of a restoration look I would say that's your window. I like that you don't see any vinyl on the inside. It's all wood.
Have you looked into MW windows? I have used the 'Freedom 800' series. The exterior is PVC clad and the interior is clear solids. They are made in VA. They are low-E. They have double hung tilt, casement awning. etc. MW is less than Anderson and Marvin and I feel they are good performers. Check with a full service lumber yard.

I bought a pile of Andersen units a few years back - your order for the 400 series would have been $6,000 then -- so $86 now is in the ball park -- at the time both places I bought form ($16,000 order at the time) offered all units at 65% of Andersen's published list price
The 200 series is less window than the 400. In an addition remuddle we're working on, the existing windows are 25 year old Andersen Clad Terratone w/ wood interiors. Very similar to today's 400 WoodWrights.
Except for some slight fading on the cladding, they look like they could go another 25 years.
Don't know if you've got any mulled double hungs, Andersen does seem to get pricey quick, there...but with that sliding door, your price sounds all right.
This client did decided to go with 200 awnings in the basement...less expensive, but no terratone<G>
I used 200s in my garage, 400s elsewhere. The 400s are way superior, more solid, airtight, look better, etc. I am regretting the 200s.
Andersen has different pricing if you can wait for a truckload delivery - did you check that?
I bought from HD (never again) two weeks after I got their bid, they called with 10% off if I could buy them by the weekend. I bit. I saved $$, but I'd rather deal withmy loacl lumberyard.
i ordered my andersons thru hd. went over one weeknight when nothing else could distract the guy. sat right beside him as he punched in the sizes,order was right on first time.once they are loaded in my truck it don't matter where thay came from,same windows and i do think anderson makes a nice window. larryhand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
200's are good windows. Woodwrights are very good windows. Is that worth $2600 to you?
Definitely check with HD for their prices. I hate dealing with them for much of anything but I know through experience that nobody in this area even comes close to thier prices on Andersen Windows. I try and wait until they have one of their 10% off Contractor Appreciation Days and then you get an additional 10% off the very lowest prices. They also offer van load pricing where the windows come straight from the factory. This gives ANOTHER 10% off. The only drawback to the van load is that it takes six to eight weeks for delivery.
