Anyone out there have a link to a video using sanding discs in an angle grinder for coping crown instead of a coping foot attatchment for the jigsaw? Just heard about it and it sounds interesting and faster than the dremel

I started coping w a grinder a couple years ago and love it.
I think there is some video around, but I can not direct you to it. (someone will come along here and probably help you w that).
I saw a good video on J Chestnuts site about coping w a jigsaw. His whole site is good if you want to pick up a pile of finish tips. Google "Clam Clamps".
Happy coping, Harry

I spent an hour on the phone talking with Jim yesterday and we didnt even argue about who's method was best! I think he knows mine is. ;)
But he did tell me my Festool jig saw was a piece of ####, so what'da-ya gonna do.

no link to video but i can tell you from first hand experience that the angle grinder works very well on small to medium profiles... most of the coping i do freehand, the trim in my left and the grinder in my right, something i wouldn't dream of doing with a jigsaw.
i use a makita cordless angle grinder fitted a disc sander conversion kit. the grit i use is typically 50 or 80. the tool can remove alot of wood quickly, without the potential chatter of a jigsaw.
the only drawback is the amount of sawdust produced.

This is a short video of DougUs method. I had a buch of crown to do in my own house a few weeks ago and decided to give this a try. I will not be using my coping saw again, if I can help it. It takes some getting used to (not to mention a pound of lost flesh - but that was my own fault) but it is way faster and produced as good results.

I don't know if it's just a problem I'm experiencing, but all I get is a page of jibberish when I click on the link you posted.
I don't do much base but had a job a year ago, and based on recommendations here tried the grinder, and was satisfied with the results. More precise than what I had been using, the hand powered coping saw. It was easier to get right up to the line.In my case, I was doing MDF base, and there was LOTS of dust.

Copy a link, open a new browser window and paste the link. Gotta wait for the whole vid to download and then it will play.
