From May 2000 Consumer Reports Recalls:
b DeWalt 18-volt battery pack for various power tools:
i Could fall out ouf tool unexpectedly and injure user
Products: 755,000 black battery packs, model DW9095, sold 5/97-6/98 through industrial distributors and at home centers and hardware stores for $70-85. Model number appears on nameplate on bottom of battery. Suspect devices bear date codes 9719 to 9810 on top of battery pack. "DeWalt" and "18V: are written in yellow on sides of pack. Battery weighs 2.2 pounds. Battery packs with "R" etched after date code or with red dot on nameplate have already been repaired and are not included in recall.
