I’ve been looking through the old threads and can’t find
any resounding approval for any of the cheaper Wet saws.
So, a shot in the dark- Anybody know of a $300.00 or so
wet saw that is worth having in the long run?

A standardized approach, quick-to-install hardware, and a simplified design make building custom casework cost-effective.

harbor frieght has one,10" basiclly a spinoff of something like a mk.on sale 200. i don't think you can beat it for the money. there are nicer saws but 4 times as much. http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=brick+saw&Submit=Go i have one, cuts square better than my old felker by alot. my only complaint after 6 years is the bearing in the arbor is noisy, but still tight. i'm thinking about selling mine on cl just to buy a new one thats nice and clean.....
my hd has their mk 10" from the rental fleet for sale for 325. might check yours if your wanting a good quality saw.

Check the drive belt for wear, when I got mine the belt was so tight it sounded like the bearing was bad! Sounded like a rumble. Reset it and all is good!
That look's promising.
That web sight is glitching out on me, I'll try again later thanks.
We bought a Felker not too long ago. I like it, but I only do tile on my investment properties so I'm not using it every day. It was just under or right at $300...can't remember for sure.
If you can find an MK for that or even a bit more, I'd probably go for that.
I think I saw that one at one of the big block stores.
Definitely one of the better offerings. Many of the reviews I found said it needed a good bit of
adjusting and was underpowered. I know you can't expect much from these lower price range
saw's but the 3/4 hp seams a bit lacking.
I bought one of the Home Depot $88 yellow ones about 2 years ago.
I dont cut a ton of stuff but have used it dozens of times and every time I think that i got my monies worth out of it.
The fence seams so flimsy on those.
Any trouble cutting true?
The fence is flimzy. Once locked in it is fine.
I learned to look at the reliefs in the table and align the fence with the reliefs so that it is square with the blade. (binded up all the time till i figured out that trick) It still binds sometimes but a quick tweak usually resolves that.
Like I said, it paid for itself time and time again but I only do tile maybe once a month. (now that I said that, I will get 3 tile jobs in january)

Blade above the tile works best and gives a cleaner edge. If the tile you want to cut is very hard you need a heavy rated machine. Most manmade tiles can be snapped. granite and marble need to be cut.
Both the HD husky models are fine but I would pick the above blade model. Like all tools take your time and be kind to the machine. Remember your cutting with very small teeth on the blade, keep the water flowing too.
Thanks for the feed back. My immediate project is slate tile. Seams like it should cut
fairly easy. I was wondering if the Angle grinder type motors were worthwhile
or seriously under powered?
If you have a HF near you I would go that way. Not many moving parts on these saws and they work well. You can get an extended warranty for peanuts that will give you a instant new unit for the old, if your worried about it.
yeah, it looks like a good way to go. I'll have to see where the nearest HF is, could be pretty far.
I never used those ones.
I have one of those cheap tile saws too. You can get it to cut square by carefully aligning the fence square with the blade EVERY time you move the fence. Once set, it actually stays pretty true.
I've been thinking about scoring some lines in the table (parallel to the blade) to make it easier to square it up when I move the fence, but I haven't gotten around to it.
I bought this one a couple years ago and love it. Sold my junk cheapie.

Assume you saw the thread the other day on Ryobi vs. Felker
There was a link to a HF model on ebay that looked like a fairly routine offering. 99 cents for the saw, $100 for shipping.
This one is gone, but you might contact the seller/warehouse. Seemed like they might have another.

huge and heavy.
HF in Utica
Now way!
Where are they?
Commercial drive
Thanks!
So, is this new? Or have I driven past it for twenty years?
3 years, in the plaza with a furniture store, .
Good, it wasn't me. thanks again, I'll check it out.
I see a lot of name brand tile saws that are rebuilt and sell for about half the new price. There is usually a warranty included. Good luck.
I've got the same saw as alwaysoverbudget. Lotta bang for the buck. It's sat outside for several years at a time. Will not die. We don't use it often, but when we do we give it hell. I've replaced the pump ($20 aquarium pump) several times, but other than that, no problems.

There's a little tablesaw-style tile saw at Home Depot from Workforce. Small, about 18"x15" tabletop at the largest. Stainless steel top with aluminum fence. 7" blade, top tilts for bevel cuts, miter cuts done with angle fence riding accessory. They cost about $88-$100. I used one for a bathroom and a laundry room job, cutting 13x13 tiles and it worked pretty darn well. Throw a better blade on and I'd bet it'd work even better.Use it as long as you'd like and than it'll sell on CL for $55 easy.JT
i noticed that harbor frieght just sent out a flyer with the saw at 200.00 still on the internet at 299. are you very far from a harbor frieght ? if you are theres surley some way to get the same deal on the internet.i have the cupon code if you want it. larry

I'd look for a used Felker or MK100 / 101

Haven't seen anything around here. I think shipping would be a killer.
I have a Felker FTS-150 that performs well but they're over $500 now.
I've heard good things over at John Bridge about a smaller Felker, the TM-75, in your price range. Check it out here:
http://www.contractorsdirect.com/Felker-TM-75-Wet-Tile-Saw-Kit?sc=8&category=20743
Billy
The TM-75 is an awesome saw for the little stuff. It's nice and quiet, I used one for a few months because I didn't have room for my big saw in the truck I was driving. It's really quiet, strong motor, I would set it up right in the bathroom that I was working in with some plastic for protection. My MK-100 I would never try that with, the new Dewalt I got I might consider it, but it's so darn big it wont fit well in most bathrooms. It saves a load of time in a master bath when you have to walk what feels like a half a mile down 3 flights of stairs to get outside to cut, then walk back upstairs the half mile and three flights to find out you cut it long by an eighth of an inch.
So, after bothering everyone on the entire internet,
I'm picking this bad boy up today.

On sale for $209.99 can't beat that!
Thanks one and all for the help.
