Our home's siding was damaged. We were told that it may be posible to find a match. Before we spend any time looking for it we would like to know if New York State has any regulations regarding repairs to homes with asbestos siding. John W.

Don't know the legalities in your state, but I just read somewhere that the asbestos in that type of siding is not harmful, you might want to do some research on that (I guess you are, duh). What I was going to say is that if you have the shingle typ i.e. 8"x16" exposure, or something like that, there is a company that just started advertising, in JLC I think, that it makes replicas of these styles that do not contain asbestos. They are for marketing them for repairs and remodeling on houses such as yours.
As for me, I would go ahead and make the necessary repairs, maybe even wear a respirator, without regard to New York state. What are you trying to do to yourself man? What are you worried about? Please post your concerns and I will help you deal with them.
Meanwhile fix the hole in your house.
