I need a SIP package for a timber frame we will be errecting in the spring. I have never used SIPs and am looking for some advice on who to use. I have been in contact with thermocore (polyurethane SIPs) Murus (poly and EPS SIPs) and Insulspan (EPS Sips) any insight will be appreciated.

I have used Foard Panel in West Chesterfield, N.H. for many projects and every time its a good product, good people, good humor and excellent tech help kind of situation. Everybody I know who has used them has had similar reviews- hope it helps!
I had some dealings with Murus but due to the dirtball timber framer the project was scraped. These guys were very nice to deal with and were willing to travel.

I used AFM SIP's and they were absolutely great but!
I wouldn't use them again!
Instead I'd use ICF's .. much faster to put up, massively more durable,, plenty easy to work with and very flexible..
ICF's on a timber frame? Have you been breathing too many Shelac vapors?
Beer was created so carpenters wouldn't rule the world.
remember, anything will work on somebody elses house...........<g>Naive but refreshing !

The whole purpose of SIP's is to enclose the timbers.. ICF's will do the same thing only faster, easier and more durable.. .
Frenchy how do you get those ICFs up on the roof I am intrigued?Wallyo

Hopefully You understood the roof will require SIP's. ICF's are for the walls only..
A crane or forklift. Bob's next test date: 12/10/07
Jim Is that before or after Frenchy fills the ICF's with concrete.Wallyo

#2 Winterpanel.
I used R-control. The have a facility in near my house in WI, but the panels came out of Michigan.

With SIPs, I think the issues is less with the mfr and more with the builder/installer. It seems there is less mfr-to-mfr variation than with ICFs
This, of course, assumes the mfrs all have competitive pricing and timely delivery. . .

Where're you at? The closer to the manufacturer the better. I'm familiar with the Murus products (northern PA near the NY border). They have a lot of SIP choices, might want to check em out if you're in the region.
