Possibly looking at making a loft in my nephew’s BR to help maximize the space. We had made lofts in college for our beds and stuck our desks underneath.
Anyone have good loft designs?

i went thru a bunch designs for Phalen.... in the end we found something better at Ikea
maybe you'll do better
I made one last year, ledgers on opposing walls, squared up and sanded 2x8's in joist hangers, 5/4 slats, 3/4" aluminum conduit for rails. Simple open stairs made of 5/4. I wish I had pics.
Ikea stuff is decent as well.
The awful thing is that beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and the devil are fighting there, and the battlefield is the heart of man.

I built that for my daughter. The boxes right underneath the platform are bookshelves. The desk top is actually slanted. It opens on hinges at the top like a box. The box at the foot of the bed is open on each side. It serves as bench and bookshelf for larger books. It is put together with mortise, tenon, bed bolts and some European hardware I found at Home Depot. Only the boxes are glued. I can send a SketchUp file for the dimensions and pictures of the final bed.PS: the post that sticks higher at the back was suppose to have a night table on top. This did not happen and the post is as tall as the others.
