Thats a good price, thanks for the link!
I'd get laughed off the jobsite if I showed up with a set of sears knives.
Those are some decent looking Marshalltownes. I klike my Goldblatts, but wouldn't hesitate to buy this set.

I have been using the 8 and 12 of this style for several years now, and have been happy with them.
When I checked into shipping they said they are stainless steel. Are they stainless or tempered steel? Great price either way. Thanks.
They're stainless.
They are stainless - the ones I have are anyway
<DuraSoftâ„¢ handle helps reduce hand fatigue. Premium tempered steel blade has rigid alloy backing plate. Blade is tapered to run corners faster and easier. Sizes 6 x 3, 8 x 3, 10 x 3, 12 x 3. Learn more>
Seems if they were stainless they would want to advertise that fact without a question.
My money says they aren't stainless at that price.

Tell it to Gunner!
If you are serious - I can let you know they are stainless. I bought a set a couple weeks ago when I bought my 12 volt Panasonic impact driver.
Sears just does not have their sheet together on this stuff.
Don't know if you read the thread on the 12 volt Panasonic impact driver. One place on the Sears site is said the word batteries. In the product specs or details area it said it only came with one battery. I called and the person that answered just read from the site to me - one required, one supplied. Told him I could read, but was calling for clarification. He put the question into a "product specialist". I ordered one anyway. Two days later the "product specialist" calls and tells me it only comes with one battery. Two days after that it arrives on my doorstep with two batteries.
My money says they aren't stainless at that price
I'll e-mail you my address so that you can mail that money.
Well, did you send the extra battery back?
roar!
sobriety is the root cause of dementia.
I was afraid to send it back for the serious damage it might cause to their fragile system, so, I sent it to the all knowing Gunner, just for being all knowing.

You know it.
Who Dares Wins!
No - you do!
Don't try to turn that all knowing crap around either. Your the one that went flying off the handle assuming the bold print on the front page was a lie. Because you insited that you were going to uncover a scam. You put all your faith in the normal specs. Totaly ignoring the bold print in the advertisment on the front page. You just had to dig up the dirt on a good deal.
Who Dares Wins!
Go back, read the thread, and Chill.
Yes I was suspect. I must not have been too suspect though, as I bought the thing.
Someone else was a bit bent out of shape, I was more in an investigative mode.
Relax.......
You relax.

I think I will relax - bout time to crawl into bed anyway
Good night!
See posts 10 & 12 of this thread.
Well duh!
I went back and reread the link in the first post and true to my normal form read the detail saying Premium tempered steel blade with rigid alloy backing plate and totally missed the bold print on the lead proclaiming stainless.
Sometimes I hate being a shortsided dumbazz. :o)

That's okay, Razz. At least you never bought a bammer! ;)
real funny.
I see it sitting there in the big grey case every once in a while when I walk by.
I just cancelled my order on the knives half way thru the form saying what the hell am I doing I hate drywall.
be would be funny but...

Saving that Bammer for the next gift exchange? hope you get Boss so he can report on what the guys at the truss plant had to say about it...LOLSorry Boss, I just had to

Don't worry Shoeman will be along to pick apart the great deal.
Who Dares Wins!
Boss, I've owned a set of those for years. As piffin said, they're Marshalltowns, & they are first rate knives. Just ordered another set a few weeks ago & they are the same as my old ones.
Boss Hog - "I'd get laughed off the jobsite if I showed up with a set of sears knives."
First of all those aren't Sears branded knives they are Marshalltown a well known and respected brand in the plaster and drywall trades.
Secondly I would never let the petty childish attitudes of coworkers influence what tools I showed up with. The first time I ever showed up with my Festool saw everyone laughed and made fun of it but I've been having the last laugh ever since. While I don't think the Sears/Craftsman power tools are in Festools league I very proud of the Sears mechanics tools I have, my favorite claw hammer ( I generally prefer rip hammers) is a Sears branded hammer, and Sear makes the very best screw extractors I've ever run across. Some of there stuff I don't like and would use but that holds true for many other brands too.

and ...
They'd probably laugh because U work at a computer!
what are ya gonna do ... float out your screen with durobond?
anyways ... those handles are comfy. I got a 12" .... I appreciate that soft handle when I'm skim coating a whole wall. Don't do drywall/plaster enough to build up the "trowel muscles" ... find that after using the comfy one ... if I switch back to my old regular handle knife my hand cramps up.
if they were $15 at the store I'd stop in tomorrow.

I hear ya on the in store deal.
I have been looking at the online clearance area every couple weeks since someone posted that screamin' deal on the 15.6 volt Panasonic Multi-driver. Sometimes it would be nice just to stop into the store to look at something before buying or not have to pay shipping. $5.25 shipping on a $3 item takes away some of the appeal.
I noticed they do have a rebate going on where they re-imburse you shipping costs, but, I never cared much for rebates either.
Got a good deal a couple weeks ago on the new 12volt Panasonic impact driver for $180. Guess I can't call it the new one anymore though - it is the second generation. I just saw in a magazine the other day Panasonic has thier 3rd generation 12 volt impact driver out now. Digital clutch settings ! What next?
What Jerrald said.
Besides I would imagine you would get laughed at. You work in a truss plant.

I'm right there with ya bro....BUT...if it doesn't have a motor from Sears can't be that bad cause they give a lifetime guarantee.
Be well my brotherman

A lifetime guarantee means virtually NOTHING to me. I want good quality tools that don't break - Not cheap tools that I can waste my time trying to get replaced for free. How good is that lifetime guarantee if the tool breaks? Doesn't the trip back to the store cost you more than the tool is worth? (At least in this case)Living out in the sticks this is particularly true. The nearest Sear store is an hour away. No way am I gonna drive 2 hours just to get a free replacement on a $10~ tool.I had a guy try to sell me a $20 set of wrenches once - Claimed they had a lifetime guarantee, and I didn't need something like S & K. So I asked him - If I'm fixing something in a field 5 miles from toewn on a Sunday afternoon when everything is closed, will you bring me out a replacement wrench?Obviously he wouldn't. So I bought the S&K stuff. And it's never broken.

they also have the 10" and 12" for ~$3 each, but I think I'll get a set as a backup.
(good think I work alone so I won't have anyone but you guys making fun of me)
That is the beauty of this site - people can make fun of you - even if you do work alone.
I think you will be happy with the purchase.
