Anyone using Weatherguard hi-side boxes?
Hi-side boxes are the type that fit on the side rail and do not interfere with the bed between wheel wells. I’m thinking of putting one or possibly two of these on my truck, F150 8-ft bed. The largest size that will fit between the rack standards is 90″ and weighs 145 lbs. Contents weigh at least another couple hundred. I weigh another 200+ lbs. For ease of rear visibility, I’d probably start by mounting one on the driver’s side. Honestly, I’m worried about is the truck starting to sag on that side.
I’ve used cross-bed boxes on other trucks and didn’t like them–don’t want to climb in the bed to get stuff and I want to be able to have a half yard of rock dumped in there once in a while.
Curious to know if others are using these boxes and how you like them.

Exact boxes I have, and I love them. I built a ladder rack deal on the back, I'll post some pics if I can.
Keith, do you think you could cantilever them off the truck a bit or not? If I go with 2 I still want to preserve the 49" space between the wheel wells. I was thinking of the boxes that are 15" deep, front to back... they would have to be centered on the side rail to leave the space between and would cantilever off about 6 inches.
some more pics to explain:
That can't be your truck ,Keith ,there are no flames!!!!!!!! Or it is new.
I'm working out the details to ghost flame the silver.
The way I mounted mine is different from the plans. I've got 40" between the boxes, and can slide sheet goods in between the wheel wells to top of bed height. My ATV still fits in also. I didn't use the factory struts, but have the front mounted on a T-angle I fabricated and mounted to the front of the bed box. Where the back strut should be, I put in a bank of drawers on each side below the boxes and mounted the boxes to the drawers...I'll take some more pics.....the drawers are the single best thing I ever bought for the truck...handy as hell.
Until I saw Keith's pics, I thought you meant "inner sides"(they sit low on the rail and drop into the bed a bit). Those there are actually called "topsiders". Tomata tomota.
Weatherguard makes real nice stuff, good quality. Check out Deflecta-shield, specifically their Seal-tite line of boxes. Just as good or better.
Yes, you can cantilever them, but you'll be fabbing braces most likely. There's no structure to the bottom that must sit on the rail.
