Armstrong Wood Haven Laminate Ceiling Planks good bad or ugly ? Anybody been hanging the stuff ?
Thinking of installing it over a drywall ceiling in Kitchen, Dinning & Hallway.
Don’t know about the vinyl coating over the composite?
Blown wood fiber insulation with radiant reflector over it in attic, no vapor barrier.
Think vinyl is okay to use on a interior ceiling with this type of procedure?
Thinking of installing 1″x3″ furring 24″ on center hanging the Planks on them after filling the area between with 1/2′ Dow Blue foam & taping all seams. leaving a 1/4″ air space between the planks the foam.
Any thoughts on this process would be appreciated.

I installed it above kitchen, dining/family room maybe 4 yrs ago. It was a "whitewashed" birch or similar plank. The customer picked it out and are still liking it.
The walls in the dining/fam room are barnsided (recycled) so it brightens up the room somewhat. Pretty easy to put up if you like a stiff neck.
With a beveled ends, choose if you want some sort of repeat. Unless you think about it-a random pattern I think is near impossible (and look nice and random). I chose to repeat a "random" pattern for good use of material-using the cut ends to start, which stair stepped it across the room. The din/fam was one long rectangle. Beam between it and kitchen-where I picked up the same pattern and alignment.
It doesn't like water-so under a bath or similar, you could be in for a problem later if anything leaked.
Follow the install instructions.
Thanks Calvin
Always good to hear that someone else used something your about to install... even though your the only one who replied !!
About not liking water... Dry wall doesn't like it either but its cheaper right.
I guess using the 1/2" dow blue on the celing with the 1/4" air space between the plank & d.b. would be all right . Thinking about condensation problems forming some where in the ceiling.
Thanks for the reply...

I had another floor above this ceiling-with a bathroom in one corner. There was damage to the previous ceiling in that spot-if necessary, backing out some of these panels wouldn't be too bad-in the middle of the room? = ugh.
It's been a while-cannot remember if it was "primed" or sealed on the backside.
Follow the directions and hope for the best-if is paper afterall.
