In the January isuue under Breaktime there is an inquiry entitled ” In Search of a Better Asphalt Sealant.” I also would like to seal my asphalt driveway and am seeking the best product available for this purpose. Can anyone suggest a product and where it might be obtained?

I have always wondered about asphalt sealants...... Are they any good, cost effective, if they are so good how come they don't seal city streets? You get my drift.
The only thing I have ever read about sealant is don't paint yer driveway every year, it will get slick.
Sure would like to know more. I've requested an article on asphalt and asphalt maintence for years (taunton surveys, they throw them in the trash I bet).
Haven't got the Jan. issue. I'm in Alaska and don't expect to get it 'til Jan

'Round here they do. Not the whole thing, but they've got something they spray on cracks. I've seen areas where it looked like it would have been easier to coat the whole thing than each individual crack. They spay this stuff and then put sand on top of it (to make it drivable quickly, I assume).
I invented driveway ceiling. It's called a carport.

Then after a couple cycles fixing cracks, they do what they call chip seal, spray hot asphalt on the street and spread a thin layer of gravel over it. I think the other poster was talking about the kind of driveway sealer building suppliers sell in a can, and I've never seen a municipality use anything thing like that for streets. Parking lots yes, but not streets.
