Attaching base shoequarter round
Hey folks,
Put down some engineered wood flooring up against some brickwork at a fireplace hearth. Now any good suggestion to putting down the shoe or QR as there is not really much to nail it to. I know adhesive is an option but it never seems to hold as well as a mechanical faster and I can never seem to snug it down as well.
Any off the wall thoughts?
Thanks
Mike

Since you are from Florida, I'll assume a slab floor or you could nail down. How about drilling some dowel-sized holes in the brick that the shoe will hide. Drive in some dowels coated with construction adhesive or epoxy. And then nail through the shoe into the dowels.

Either stick it to the floor with double-sided tape, or, stick it to the wall with silicone caulk/adhesive (I've been using the silicone they use to glue mirrors to walls, that's real stick-em). But don't stick it to both.
If you stick it to the floor, it'll move in relation to the wall and be tight some days and leave a gap others. If you stick it to the wall, you'll have to bench-make the corners first (2'-3' wings with outward 60º at each end), using a good adhesive and then install them with connecting lengths between your corners with "in" miters where they join.
