Here’s a question for any plumber out there. When my washing machine empties itself, the sink ‘gargles’. Then, the other day while it was draining, I noticed that air was coming up through the toilet. Kind of looked like something out of a movie. What is the cause?

venting only one fixture in a line of fixtures....or venting below rather than above (6"above the flood line). Orrrrrrrrrrr no venting and or in line 2" pipe connecting all the fixtures up to the toilet which I've seen all too often.
Be vented

Or a stopped up or partially stopped up vent. Remember the thread about the wayward squaril some one had to get out of thier vent stack?
