I have a 1 1/2 story cape cod style house with attic space on front side of my roof and a shed dormer that runs the full length of the back. The upstairs A/C unit is in the attic. Over the years we have had a problem cooling the upstairs. We upgraded the A/C a few years ago and this has helped a lot. We are about to start a project to build closet space into the attic and my wife wants to insulate the roof rafters and sheet rock the remaining unfinished attic space where the A/C is, while we do this closet project. This would be done in an effort to keep the area cool around the A/C itself; and hopefully keeping the A/C unit cool and therefore making our upstairs easier to cool. I think to sheetrock attic space is strange to do – it is attic space. The walls of the upstairs area adjacent to the attic are insulated. Many homes have A/C units in the attic. Is this a good use of our money?
Thanks,
Jeff
