i have a nice large room in my walkup attic that is sheetrocked but not insulated. i would like to turn that room into another bedroom. it has lots of windows with beautiful sunlight streaming in. the kneewalls are about 4 feet high, overall ceilingheight is about 8 feet with a small crawlspace above that is accessable through a small hatch. can i fasten rigid foampanels over the existing sheetrock and then sheetrock over it? do i insulate kneewalls, the slanted walls and the ceiling? how thick should the foamboard be? i can use any feedback from you guys. thanks.

No access panel into the knee walls I assume?
why not cut one, if have enough space to move around inside once you cut the hole? You could blow insulation into the ceiling though your access hole?
I'm with CAGIV on this----if its got accessable crawl space, then cut an access and get up there and blow in a good 10 inches of insulation. A lot easier that tearing out the dry wall and insulating, or foaming and drywalling over.
Don't forget to put some plywood channels between the rafters over the knee wall, or all the insulation will fall down in behind the knee wall.
