I have a friend in Raleigh NC that needs a tube to fit a 1 7/8″ dia. auger bit. This is to create an avalanche for a model railroad. He has tried everywhere to find a tube that will have an inside dia. of 1 7/8″. Any ideas?

change the size of the auger... 1-3/4" and you could use 2" EMT conduit ..
make one.. bore out a moly block...
why wouldn't a 2" pipe work... a sixteenth of clearence won't hurt.. the aggerate should be larger than that..
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
what material is he hoping for...

He's found that Kosher Salt works the best and the 1/16" does allow too much room. Also, the muffler pipe was suggested, but the shop wanted $85 for a 4' piece. A bit too much he thought. He's got a Sat. dish motor and the rpm's are perfect for this. I think the muffler pipe is the way to go, he just needs to find a piece at a junk yard or a shop with a realistic price.
Forget the junk yard. Try a Pep Boys, Autozone, napa etc store.
1 7/8" exhaust pipe from a muffler shop?
If plastic pipe (DWV or conduit) is a hair too large, slit the pipe lengthwise (with a saw kerf of appropriate size) and then draw it closed with pipe clamps
I'll email him these ideas.
