Saw it at the JLC Midwest show. Like the looks of of it and the screw and plug fastening system. Anyone use it and what do you think of it? TIA

I have not used the decking but I have used the trim boards.
Love it other than the price.

"Welcome to my world"
I'd use it in a heartbeat. I've done several Azek decks recently and can't say enough good things about it. Only drawback is that you can't use a stand up screw gun.... that I'm aware of. DON"T use Tiger Claw if you're doing hidden fasteners. I've done my fair share of Trex decks and the benefits of Azek outweigh Trex.
At the show they had two install methods, color matched screws and a screw and plug system. Was a little skeptical at first about the screws and plugs but the plugs are cut from from the same material and almost invisble when installed- you almost have to get your nose on the deck to see where the plugs are.

You're referring to the Cortex system I believe?
I prefer Azek because it's much lighter than Trex. Easier to move around and install. You can screw close to the edges and don't have to worry about any cracking. Azek won't stain like Trex will and the color doesn't fade. Azek does't heat up like Trex does to the point where you can't walk on it barefoot. Azek seems to be a bit more stiffer (rigid). You can keep the spacing fairly close as compared to 1/4" to 3/8" that Trex recommends. Although a 12D nail seems to work for spacing on Trex.
i don't think youse guys are familiar with all of the Trex products...
Trex "Escapes" is a cellular pvc just like Azek..
i could see no difference...except that i can buy Escapes cheaper than Azek
there are basically 3 trex decks now.... Accents....Brasilia & Escapes...

What's your take on the Trex lawsuit? Never have seen any issues with the Trex decks that I've worked on-all have held up well.

which lawsuit ?
the old one, or is there a newer one ?Mike Hussein Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
could someone mention something about pricing 1 X 6" or 2 X 6" and spans / joist spacing
In eastern CT I'm being charged about $50 for a 5/4 x 6 x 20' and $42 for a 1 x 12 x12' skirt board. Joist spacing is typical 16" o.c. when they are laid perpendicular to the joists or 12" o.c. when laid on a 45.
........... believe it's a new one- class action similar to the old one for mold mildew issues. I didn't bookmark it but I'll try to find it.

yep, Cortex ........ what do you think of it? Slower for sure but I like the looks but the real test is out in the field.

Co. I work for; we just did a deck package about 1000 sq ft using the Grey Azek with the plugs.
A bit bore labore but it does look very nice.
The wood grain feature seems to hold dirt though.
It is a very nice looking finish product.
Also is a bit slippery when covered with frost and I would assume snow as well.
Ditto on the slippery.
If I'm on the right track, Azek decking was pro-cell before buy out, correct? Used 800 sq ft on a deck about a year ago, and what a pleasure to work with in regards to weight! My only concern was the staircase. 6 treads down to a landing, 6 steps down to grade. VERY slippery when wet, and this deck was for an in-law over a garage. Owner was going to color match the stuff and get some grit additive to paint the treads. Does have a wet noodle quality to it, like all the comp. stuff, but the color matched ss screws combined with that brand are the first combo I've seen with absolutely no mushrooming at all. Salesman brought me some samples of same recently w/ plug system, looks awesome....invisible.
Now that I've seen Mike's post, I'm going to have to check out the Trex stuff tho.

I think that I have heard that.
Azek also owns Trademark Railings as well. Another composite railing system.
