Well, Kleer, actually.
I’m wrapping a couple of 8 1/2′-tall columns, and I’ve glued up a couple of U-shapes to start.
I used GRK Composite Trim-heads and Gorilla water-based PVC glue, which says allow 24-48 hrs to cure. No problem there; it was raining like hell out; I left ’em to cure.
But tomorrow I’ll be outside, slipping them on, capping the 4th side, and looking at lows in the teens within my 48-hour window.
What do you think? Start all of the screws, then have two guys go to work with standard plumber’s solvent-base glue? What’s my open time?

It's my understanding you CAN'T use plumbers glue, why I'm not sure.
I tried a few test pieces with plumbers glue and it would not hold. I let it set up for hours and still nothing. I'd talk to your local azek rep, they always have some inside info on different options.
Thanks, guys,So what would you do? Do you know of any solvent-based glues that work?Aitchkay
I've used Oatey, and it worked just fine... Master Plumber, on the other hand, don't.http://www.tvwsolar.com
I went down to the lobby
To make a small call out.
A pretty dancing girl was there,
And she began to shout,
"Go on back to see the gypsy.
He can move you from the rear,
Drive you from your fear,
Bring you through the mirror.
He did it in Las Vegas,
And he can do it here."
Azek makes their own glue. It looks and smells just like PVC cement. Azek is PVC. Which makes me wonder why regular PVC cement wouldn't work (though I don't doubt those who say it doesn't).
I couldn't under why it would not work either since, like you say they are both pvc. It did melt the surface some put there was no bonding at all.
I've used oatey extensively, to edge glue, and cannot pull scrap pieces apart. Talking seriously tried, can't get it to break apart. Haven't had occasion to face glue, tho....and putting that last side on would be on the "face" of the back side. I think at the very least, I'd experiment w/ some scrap, maybe rough up the 3/4" that will be glued to the sides. Say this because as you know....the face is much smoother than the core, which is pretty rough.
Good luck

I've used both the standard PVC cement and the AZEK cement. Both have worked for me but it is my understanding that the AZEK cement has UV inhibitors in it to prevent the glue line from yellowing over time.
I talked to Ann at Gorilla PVC (interestingly, NO relation to Gorilla Glue!), and she said wait until it's above freezing for the full cure time.Glueing when it's 10:00 AM and 45º, but due to go down to 25º at night doesn' make it. So I slipped the pre-glued U-shapes over the poles, and just tacked up the 4th sides for now.Standard PVC cement just wouldn't have had enough open time for 8 1/2' posts.AitchKay
