Has anyone used the Tanza product? Same concept as AZEK except this has a nailing flange.
I am currently working a complete remodel and addition in coastal NC. My thinking is that with the flange there is less chance of splitting or cracking on the corners that may not be nice and square.
Cost is about the same as AZEK and am using Hardi siding.
Another thought I had was that I could tape the flange for the added protection on the corners. Would the tape be overkill?
Have done 5 or 6 water damage repairs here on the beach and it seems the problems always start in the corners or windows.
Opinions or real world advice appreciated.

The only problem with Azek cracking when you nail it is when it is cold out. Down in NC, I doubt you get the temps where it gets more brittle and you need to worry about the chance of cracking.
I have not heard of the other product, and would be unlikely to use it without a track record. I would go with Azek, use their glue and build the corner boards the day before you install.
Why the day before install? I am going be edge glueing some in the next few days, does the glue require an overnite cure?Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Their glue has a 24 hour cure time, but when I've used it, over night is enough. I glue the joint well and nail them together and let the sit overnight. Once its nailed, you could put it up but with the weight and flex of the product, then nailing with some possible uneven framing, keeping it tight is not 100% guaranteed. I think its easiest just to make them the day before then its 100%.You could use a glue called trimbonder that my area Azek rep recommends but that is about $28 for a caulk sized tube and even then it is a 50%/50% mix of glue and activator, so its not a ton of glue. That stuff cures very quickly too, so if your not very quick, your screwed.http://www.trimbonder.com/

One other thing. I just messed around and tried some test pieces with the quick setting plumbing pvc cement and that did not work at all. I know it is suppose to work but not have the UV protection, but when I tested it, after 15 minutes there was no bonding at all.
I have used the AZEK quite a bit I like the product. When doing AZEK I use their premade corners.
What I am saying is, on my current job the house is 25 yrs old and second row from the beach. No telling how many hurricanes could have shifted it.
I was thinking the Tanza product with the nailing fin would follow the corners better. As far as nailing it tight.
The only info I could google was warranty and installation instructions.

I saw the product at our local mom and pop hardware lumberyard. My outside salesman from another yard is researching it for me.
Why build a corner board when they make them all done?
Price. I priced the premade with my lumber yard and it was a lot more money. I forget the exact number but I want to say it was twice the cost or more.
You may find that the product is worth the expense. To me, the corners were the best. I'm not sure how field built could have a better result.
I had the little sample corner and liked the look. I think the Azek should be painted always and with the field built, once painted they are perfect. I hope Azek might come down in price over time with the popularity, then maybe I'll try out the corners. I'm not holding my breath the price will drop though.
