Anyone familiar/used American Metal Products line of Ameri-Vent B gas vent tubing? Am in process of a residential rehab and while not necessary right now, since some walls are open and a chase exists, would like to install this B vent pipe for future venting of forced air furnace and water heater (both Nat’l gas). Home has no masonry chimney, so this would be a great time to add vent pipe through an open chase. The local Big Box stores carry this line of materials, but no real spec or install sheets. Any ideas of how to size for using 3,4,5,6″ pipes for this use?
Much Thanks!

My understanding is that sizing and configuration needs to take furnace and water heater info (e.g., BTU output, draft type) into consideration, as well as rise and horizontal run, if any, etc.
Most heating co's should have sizing charts.
They have a web site at http://www.ameri-pro.com/ampco/bvent.html, but it doesn't have much technical info.

*The code sets forth tables to cover various common venting problems such as a furnace, furnace+water heater, etc. at various BTU'S and vertical/horizontal runs. The calculations are pretty precise ... if the vent is too small it may backdraft, and if it is too large it may backdraft (!). The flue can also backdraft for a variety of reasons other than sizing, such as available of outside combustion gasz and temperature of flue gasses, etc....Check with the furnace mfr and don't hesitate to have a pro do the design work given the potentially lethal consequences. (If I were buying a new furnace, I would probably opt for a sealed high-efficiency unit now that I know how rough the vent calcs are.)
