HELLO TO ALL!!
I”M LOOKING TO BUILD A BACKYARD BURN PIT FOR PARTIES. AFTER ALL WE KNOW THAT IT IS A GOOD AREA TO CONGREGATE COME EVENINGS. ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME AND OR SOURCES OF IDEAS SUCH AS ARE BOOKS FOR DECKS ETC.. I HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE TO DO THIS, SO SIZE IS NOT A CONCERN.

ok ok!!!i just found out that red is shouting as well. boy oh boy, the things you learn. thanks
Wild,
Welcome to the board, I guess I'm the lucky one to be the first to respond to your post.
I'm sure that you will find some usefull info here, and also there is a search function, that, while being somewhat finicky, may lead you to the info you want.
In the mean time, it may behoove you TO NOT SHOUT, ESPECIALLY IN RED. While some of us may be getting old..............we're not deaf! ; )

Greetings & welcome to BT.
I can see why you'd ask here; googling gives all sorts of answers, mostly on disposal of rocket fuel and the like . . .
Give us a bit more info. Like, are you permitted to burn things outdoors; and if so, what sorts of things? (Burning PT lumber is avery bad idea, even if permitted, for instrance.)
"What" you want is not coming through real sharp (but that could be me). Are you keen on a circular brick structure with a central area to build a fire within? Or, are you looking for a sunken (or lower than the rest of the deckpatio) area with a depression to define where the fire goes? Benches in some sort of shape around the fire seem logical. Which shape--round, square, polygonal, etc.?
The same description can fit many things. You could take some 3/4" ply and 2x and create a form to make a 4" depression when you pour the rest of the patio. That would, when set & cured, provide a shallow area to corral burning logs, which could then be circled with seating on a "as needed" basis. Which is different than a brick patio with built-in benches and a 6 course tall cental open pit for a fire. (Which would look cool with a concrete cap, and some fire brick to define the fire pit.) Or, maybe you just need a chimena with some deck detailing to keep it in one spot.
Same thing, three different end results.
Keep asking the questions--"we" have all sorts of answers . . .<g>
thanks for the good questions!! i"m not sure as to radius dimentions of the burn pit as that would relate to the size of the seating ares as well. this is basicly for log burning marshmallow flaming and of course, don"t forget beverage sipping, tee-hee!! just grass now and i would like to try to get something in before weather gets too foul. just a nice burn spot for parties.
My burn pit is made with concrete test cylinders from the testing lab. you can get them free. I have my stack about two foot high, 4x4
lay a residential oil tank flat on side either 275 or 330 gallon and cut open entire perimeter of metal skin on "top" dig 'n sink tank flush w ground
big enuff to cook a jacked deer, rustled cow/ big dog you're no gourmet if you're posting here
I had that exact same pit in the backyard of a house I rented during college...... if that pit could talk.
Something about a fire that's way too big and being outdoors that seems to git ya even more innebriated than you normally would get. Start throwing wildlife in the pit and all he11 can break loose. Those were the days.... or daze.
fill w water and drop air line in there... prairie jacuzzi real women like the bubbles
wild... here's one ..

I've seen some with benches built around in fixed locations, which is a bad idea. You want to be able to move closer or further from the fire depending on how hot the fire is.
