Alan:
I’m sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your recovery is speedy and complete. Back pain is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. A guy I know has one of those sitting balls, but for him I think it was more of a fad.
Now that I’ve got the pleasantries out of the way, I remember your posting(s) in the past, and reading about your situation with ensuing incidents back in the early eighties.
Now, stop your whining and grow up! No one cares what injustices your were a victim of 10 or 15 years ago! Put it behind ya and move on. Getting $crewed out of several thousand bucks 17 years ago doesn’t need to effect your entire life. And if you think government agents are following you, I suggest you either stop your covert activity, or seek psychological help.
Now, if you have some fine home building topics to discuss, please do. Otherwise, you’r no more than a bag of air taking up disk space. If you just want to whine, go sit in a dark room, suck your thumb, and “ball” your eyes out.

Don't hold back Mark. Let it out, say what you really mean.
*Wow, and I was just gonna warn him to not fall off.Whew!
*So little time, so much restraint ... we're proud of you.
*alan,Long time, no read.Oh, and don't fall off (don't know why Calvin didn't warn you after he thought about it).Calvin, shouldn't he think of it as....Rich Beckman
*Hello Mark T.I am sorry if I disturbed you.I understand when you say "...No one cares what injustices you were a victim of 10 or 15 years ago!"I believe I understand when you say ..."you are no more than a bag of air taking up disk space."I wish to thank you for your honest comments.I would encourage you to read http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis and the LegalRemedies Forum so that you might understand the issues my cases touch upon, and the people similarly affected. I know that it is easy to think of such expression as whining, most people do. And its even easier to tell someone they are sick and need psychological help, because you might not like what they have to say.I wish to thank you for your honest comments.Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]
*Not all things in tins are sardines. And not all things in this thread are what they seem.
*Howdy Alan!Long time no hear. Now then fellas...Alan is a really nice guy, and as helpful and friendly as they come. He came here and asked a question, and you really want to tear into him, but seem to be holding back. He has a valid question here. I have seen these balls in use, but have never tried one. I try to make it a habit personally to move my balls out of the way before I sit down, so I have no practical experience with sitting on balls. Some of you might....I personally do not give a rats ass about his plight 10 or 15 years ago because it does not affest me, but his information just might be helpful to someone else.Play nice...near the ditch...James "Loving Life" DuHamel
*well, thanks, Jeff. At least someone noticed! ;-)Yer the balls!

Alan:
OK. Now you really made me feel like a crumb. Probably am. Sorry.
Still I think everyone needs to be "slapped to his or her senses" occasionally. It builds character. You really need to put that stuff behind you. Also, the post may have been more appropriate for the tavern.
And by the way, I was sincere when I wished you a speedy and complete recovery.

Besides the ball, there is another chair that is sort of a "kneeling chair" in that some of your weight is resting on your knees and you lean back against a rest. This changes the weight distribution and might be helpful.
The most important thing is stretching and physical therapy. You might check out the archieves at Ask the Pain Doctor, http://www.pain.com/drfiles/default.cfm There are a number of suggestions there.
*Hi Mark T.Thanks again, so very much, for your comments. If you were to see http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis, as I encouraged you, then you would see that I spent many years fighting against those in power who believe that "everyone needs to be slapped to his or her senses occasionally".Nobody needs that. And, it is against the law (unless agreed to by two consenting adults, as far as I know). Also, "you really need to put that stuff behind you" are the exact buzzwords used by those in power, to distract victims from persuing their rights under the law. If you were to take a look at http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis, as I have encouraged you, then you would see that there are others who care enough about our justice systems to remain vigilant. You see, in construction, what we build remains for all to see. Our critics can look at our work and see if there came any times when we might have said..."ah, heck with it!", and our admirers can look at the work and see our perseverance in working out all the kinks. Whatever we do in construction remains for all eyes. This does not occur in law. Indeed, within the law are some who hide their work so that nobody can see. These are the first to say ..."you got to get this behind you!".I wrote this post because I thought there might be some other construction guys who have hurt their backs and using the ball. Candidly, I also thought that there might be some who missed my posting at this board and wondered what I had been doing.I certainly never meant to ruffle any feathers.Maybe this board offers no place for me anymore. Maybe, you are correct that I should just go away. I dont know. I just thought I would take a chance that I still had friends at this board who shared some of my concerns.Really, I should have known better.I am sorry.Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]
*Hello Bryan Sayer!Your post is what I used to like about posting at this board. I am grateful for you.I will check out Ask the Pain Doctor at http://www.pain.com/drfiles/default.cfm .You have really boosted my spirits with your post. It reminds me of the old days, I guess, when we could share thoughts and advance our knowledge here. I appreciate that. Thank you.alan joseph [email protected]
*alan,Please accept my apologies. Sometimes in my endeavors to be brief, I succeed all to well. Implied in "Long time, no read." is Welcome back, where you been, how you doing, and good to see you. You can see, I was really expecting way to much out of those four words.I'm sorry to see that your problem is still unresolved. Hope you stick around, or at least don't let so much time go by between visits.Rich Beckman
*Hi Rich Beckman!Fair enough. Thanks for saying so.There has been improvement over here at Sally's house. I sure would like to post about how incredibly strong her house is becoming. It is a truely exciting addition to my woodworking skills.I think I might have learned something helpful to building to withstand tornadoes. I think the key lies in the first moments the house is hit. If the house can withstand the many initial forces, then the house can withstand the tornado, I think. This is done by considering racking, twisting, and my own notion, wringing like a towel, just like a tornado would do. I think that if someone were to build, using Simpson Fasteners and PL 400, douglas fir, of course, so that the house is secured to the foundation, with blocking at top, bottom and center of walls, and between all rafters, all glued in with PL 400, the house would withstand initial forces.Thats what I would like to talk about if anyone is interested.Regarding the cases, at http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis, I just keep up with the work as it comes. I really believe that "access to justice" in this country will soon become an issue that will be addressed. I am only one of many who have been denied our rights in this country. Back to Sally's, I am installing that old quartersawn oak flooring that I took out so I could put plywood subfloor. I did not plane first, just reinstalling with old finish so I can sand to keep patina.Thats all for now. Thanks for your kind words.alan joseph [email protected]

A thought just came to me after reading your post.
Laugh and the world laughs with you.
Cry and you cry alone.
Just a though.

Hi Travis.
Thank you for you thought.
I have heard that expression used mostly by people who seem less than inclined to offer themselves to others in any way.
These kinds of people have all kinds of witicisms for explaining why they feel the way that they do.
Anyone can do as well, with just as little effort.
Somewhere, somehow, there can be found those who care. Just takes time...
Hope this helps.

*Alan,I would like to apologize if my post seemed a little out there. I meant no disrespect to you. We go back a long way, and I have always thought EVERYONE can contribute whether in the form of a question, or the form of an answer. You had a valid question, and I interfered with you getting a decent answer.I was just trying to let these guys know that even though the old info isn't for everyone, it can be just the ticket for someone else. No offense intended.Sometimes here lately, we seem to be getting a little rough with the posts. Won't happen again (from me), I promise.I am very interested in the tornado building. I went through two of them Friday afternoon, and the damage was contained in small strips, but devastating. It literally looked like a freight train had come through the area in an S shape, and tore up a lot of trees, and a few buildings/roofs. I really don't know what type of construction would have survived a direct hit, but I am interested in trying to find out.near the ditch...James "Loving Life" DuHamel
*Hi James DuHamel. Thanks for your posts. The stories at http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis would certainly not be relevant to someone who has not experienced such circumstances, someone who does not care about others affected by such circumstances, or someone denying the existence of such conduct within our legal systems by those sworn to uphold it.Would any of us really believe that these people might be surprised to find someone in the construction industry acting just as improperly? No, of course they wouldn't. Yet, somehow, they seem to discount the possibility that our courts dont function properly. And, all the while, these same people have less than a lick of knowledge about law. To be truly effective in any trade, at any endeavor, I believe it is necessary to build upon solid ground. If one does not understand that a house is first built on paper (deed of trust, particularly, then blueprints following), then whatever that might follow can only be dubious.Enough about that! I got http://wwww.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis so that my story would be available if someone wanted my thoughts, and I made the LegalRemedies Forum (link at bottom of page at http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis) for people who want to share their stories and those who might have thoughts about those stories. I believe the LegalRemedies Forum to be the proper place to air one's views about our legal systems, should anyone care to do that. Now, onto more fun things...To understand my thoughts about building against disasters such as earthquake and tornadoes, one must first get some things; to wit:1) From Simpson Strong-Tie a) Catalog C-2000, replaces The Well-Connected Structure b)Free Video titled "Earthquake Home Safe Home". Contact Simpson at 1-800-999-5099 and ask for the Pleasanton, CA office. Or, http://www.strongtie.com .2) From FEMA, at http://www.fema.gov , for all the free information about Seismic Retrofitting, Floods, Tornadoes, etc.I have written on these boards, in the past, about what a "torsion box" is. Simply, sheath a stud wall, on one side, with plywood to prevent racking. Sheath both sides of that same wall to prevent racking and twisting. The simplest example is the hollow-core door. When tested, this example forces against the nails that are used to secure the plywood to the studs. I dont care for that. I use blocking between the studs so the nails are used for what they are intended, withdrawal. Note that nails are malleable, and drywall screws snap! I use PL 400 like a cabinetmaker uses glue. That spans up to 3/8" and cuts away easily when dry. It also further relieves force on the nails used to secure plywood to studs. When I think of a house, I think of the dice in a craps game. If all the glue and blocking and rigid connections are made, then the house can be rolled down the street like dice, even though hollow, like a cage. After the disaster, it can be put back on foundation with a crane.Thats all I got for now.Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]

James,
A good way to build a tornado/hurricane proof house, would be to build using ICF forms. Check out the Reward-Wall web site - they have pictures of a house build with their forms that took a direct hit from a tornado. The house only lost its roof; the houses around it though were all leveled at the foundation - a pretty convincing photo.

aj - I took the time to read your posting under informapauperis, and I have to say I think you're full of horse feathers, and somewhat ungrateful. Particularly with regard to your comment that one of the first retaliations you experienced was being honored with jury duty. My understanding of grand jury time is that you meet one day a week for an extended period. So where's the problem with that? Also, I am a firm believer that jury duty is a priveledge. How many other countries allow citizens to take an active role in justice. Hey, you can argue that justice doesn't prevail in our court systems, but it's a jury of your peers that make the decision, and how much more fair can you get? Get on with your life.
*alan.. my thoughts were similar to ed's .. if your initial brush with government corruption was jury duty... then i would assume paranoia....i served jury duty three months mostly half days..and used the rest of each day to run an election campaign door-to-door for town council... so, it offered two opportunities i never would have had... an inside look at the grand jury system...and four years on town council...that was when i was young and full of vinegar though...but i digress, you don't document the additional harrasment... and the jury duty doesn't count..arn't you espousing an archane view of right to FREE counsel.. in reading your posts.. it really doesn't say FREE.. it says DEFERRED... cause if you lose .. you still pay... and you're usually going to lose..one way or another....then you pay.. so no free counsel.. and if you win .. you still have to pay.. so no free counsel.....i think a greater crime is the trampeling of the constitution in the name of the war on drugs...but that can turn into a rant also...you must have come across many others in your quest for justice who were in similar circumstances as yourself....did any of them have any encouraging results.. did any of them tell you they wished they had walked away at the first opportunity ?did any of them tell you they devoted twenty years to the quest and were happy with their choice ?history is full of injustice... but sometimes we are allowed to put it behind us... given the choice... i would not take up your mantle...life is short...b but hey, whadda i no ?
*Thanks Thor Jebing!I would like to check that out. I will go to ASK JEEVES at http://www.aj.com and plug in Reward-Wall to see what I get.alan joseph [email protected]
*Hi Thor Jebing.I got to the site. I did not see a picture of the tornado house, but read a description of the same thing you said.I wonder if the roof would have stayed had it made use of Simpson Strong-Tie #HGT-2, from Catalog C-2000, page 109.What do you think?I will try to scan and upload the page for you.alan joseph [email protected]
*Hello Ed Hilton and Mike Smith.Thank you for checking out http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis. I am very grateful for your comments about the little you seem to have read there. The Federal Grand Jury service, with an eighteen month duration, is not a device to be used by a corrupt government for the purpose of retribution, no matter how much a victim might enjoy their time with the Jury.Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]
*you're right alan... but you didn't demonstrate that you were singled out unjustly...obvioulsy some get selected for this that no one is after...what makes you think you were selected as retribtion ?and why can't you let it go ?
*Hi Mike Smith.Very good post. I will try to answer.First, read the news articles. Particularly, number 15 news article. Second, it has not been resolved.Third, this "running government like a business" effect hurts people. I am way ahead in gathering information than someone who just became involved with dealing with injustice. I hope that documentation of my efforts might help another, in some way.Fourth, I believe in the Constitution. I love this country. I do not like it that those sworn to uphold our laws are not doing their jobs, but rather are prostituting the legal system for whatever they might see as gain.Fifth, I was given authority to proceed under Proverbs 22(19-29)KJV and the Ninth Amendment. There was an enormous cost paid with that. Something that very few could be able to pay. My question has always been why would the Lord need me to help with that? Just how bad is it that He might use my life in such way? That is why LegalRemedies Forum, so that we can see how many similar stories exist, and the Legislators can use the information to make appropriate corrections with the law.Sixth, other things...Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]

Some eighteen year old rear-ended my car on 7/12/00. I have been experiencing the joys of healing, since then.
I am not one of those who is cheerful when I am hurting and cant do my jobs. I address the issue with the same vigor I would if I had a demo job that paid a lot of money and all the exotic wood waincotting was free for the taking.
And that is vigor!
Anyhow, since I am no longer the one-man construction tasmanian devil that I was, I thought I would do some more work at my website, http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis , which I did. (By the way, when you cant work there is time to think. I was thinking that my fine woodworking skills really began with Taunton Press, and the story at http://www.crosswinds.net/~informapauperis also began with Taunton Press. You could probably find it in messages still. I just copied and pasted. I am grateful to Taunton Press for being a part of my life)
Back pain is part of my deal. I have heard "whiplash" and "osteoarthritis" being used by doctors.
My desk chair was hindering my recovery. I just wasnt sitting with excruciatingly correct correctness.
So, sally got me a ball to sit on, instead of a desk chair. She says the balls are called "physogymnic balls".
Sally says these balls are very popular and that I shouldnt feel stupid or uncomfortable sitting on it while working at my desk.
Does anybody else besides Sally know about these balls. I am not sure about this...
Hope this helps.
