Having searched the archives, I have not found any sources for railing/banister parts. Does anyone know where I can get (online) a standard bread loaf type 3″ wide at top, 2″ wide at bottom and about 3″ thick in cherry or maple ?
Or, does anyone know an easy way to make this using router bits? (I don’t have a shaper)
Thanks
Andrew

You may have to have that made at a custome ww shop. The width is greater than allowed under newest codes which require that a handrail be grababble by fraill old ladies. we get by with larger ones because we are matching in house or replacing grandfathered ones.
You can go to the oldest lumberyard in town and look for the oldest guy working there, and he can guide you to a source.
