We’re new to this discussion room; looking desperately for help in finding some info on security locksets that would fit into and secure a pair of sliding doors on a barn. We’re converting a beautiful old barn into our new custom rifle gunshop and need something better than a Stanley hasp set. We need something that we can inlet into the edges of both adjoining doors, that preferably has an external protective plate over the gap. If necessary, we;ll have someone (who?) build it for us. Any ideas would be grreatly appreciated.

Don,
Check with your lumberyard and ask to look at their PLYCO catalog. PLYCO is a leading manufacturer/distibutor of pole barn hardware. If the lumberyard doesn't have a copy repost and I will get you their address/toll free number. Sliding door locks from the outside are a little tougher to do. Generally the use of a walk door with cam-latches or chain snuggers on the inside of the slider are more common. Good luck....

Here's one place you can always check for heavy-duty barn door hardware.
