I have a customer who wants me to build a home for him from a kit supplied by Shelter-Kit Inc (web site www.shelterkit.com) and was wondering if anyone here had experience with one. Anybody build one? Problems?
thanks

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

How's Pete/Doug-Fest 2001 sound? Everyone loves a project! Jeff
*I'll get the Bocce court set up...
*Hubcap,From what I can tell, your clients will pay a premium for materials and shipping to get a kit that is owner-builder (oops, almost typed in "DIY") friendly. The value this premium buys is lost if they hire you to put it up. Bet they could save big time if they simply build to the "barn style" with your labor and locally sourced materials.Steve
*Good thought Steve- I hadn't considered that .thanks
*I discourage kits like this of any kind if they want me involved. Some are good to steal plans and ideas from though.
*NOW I have perspective!!!! Thanks MD...
*Doug,Most truss manufactures will make you a truss in the configuration your after, and can fill in the "blanks" if you have a plan in mind. I'm one to get my materials from the closest source for conveiniance. If I need an extra whatever, and always do, I don't have to wait two weeks for shipping, and spend three on the phone. I think kits are great for those in remote areas that are not served by a building supplier.
