baseboard heat vs. direct vent gas heat
Currently building a 18’x16′ addition. Wall to wall Certainteed windows with a vaulted ceiling. Was suppose to be a “sunroom” but it’s a true addition, 2×4 insulated walls, truss roof w R-38 insulation. Now homeowner is in love with it and wants to add heat. Current heating system is radiant baseboard heat and I cannot tap into the system. My options are a 25,000 BTU direct vent gas heater or electric baseboard heat. Just wanted some opinions as to what other people would do. I’m leaning towards the gas but the elecric panel is soooo close about 5′ away and has plenty of room for a couple of electric baseboard heaters.
Appreciate the input, chuck in cleveland,oh

He may have the room for the panels, but does the panel have room for the panels?
Apples & oranges on the type of heat both are.
Radiant is slow & even.
Gas heaters generally have a fan of some sort that circulate the air, which is faster heat, but leaves cold spots.
Do both. Radiant bboards for the slow even heat and directvent gas unit to get it up to temp quickly.
Electric Bboards are cheap enough new and practically free used.
