Hello!
I’m a long time subscriber to Fine Homebuilding but this it my first post. My question has to do with the best method for cutting and joining two pieces of oak baseboard in a 130 degree corner. I’ve completed installing new engineered oak flooring and now I’m installing new door trim and new baseboard, both in oak. The floor was one heck of a lot easier to do than the trim. Nothing is square or flat, so it’s a real challenge. I prefinished the trim, so I generally get one or two shots to get it right.
Anyway, back to my question. The room has a door opening in a corner, resulting in the need to put this 130 degree turn (50 degree deflection) in the the baseboard. Any suggestions for a clean, crisp joint?

Cut each side 65º. If the question really is, "how ?": use a 30º block between the fence and the stock and then set the saw at 35º to make the cut. Be VERY careful about where you have your fingers when doing this.

Popps,
You're going to have to miter the joint. If it was 90 deg. I'd say cope the joint thats the best way to install any baseboards. Hack
Take 2 foot long pieces of 1x4. Bisect the angle at 65 degrees. Adjust the cut angle as necessary for a tight fit. Once the dummies fit, use them to set your saw blade angle.
Good Luck rg
