Hello all,
A plumber friend of mine is installing a bathroom in the basement of a newly constructed home and he has asked me to help him with the job. I am a cabinetmaker / finish carp, so I agreed to help him. Because of a rather high water table he is not using a sewage ejector, and instead is using a device called a Zoeller pump (brand name). To use this, he needs a platform framed on the floor so that he can run pipes on top of the slab. The room is about 6×10, and I am thinking of using 2×6 joists. My question are: 1 how do I isolate them from the slab? I am thinking of using a PT 1x sill attached to the floor on all sides, and a 1x down the center (joists will run the 6′ direction). This leaves a “span” of 3′. When finished there will be ceramic tile set as a floor. 2 Because of the thickness of a 2×6, would it be possible to use a 2×4? Too springy for tile? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

Is there a reason to isolate it from the slab?
I would use pt 2x4 16” oc right on the slab and use construction adhesive as a void filler between the two, to prevent any rocking and bounce.
Just my opinion
