I recently bought an old house with an unusual steel bulkhead door. It opens like the hood of a car, and is assisted by 4 springs (2 of which are missing). I think if I replace the springs with the right ones (correct length and tension) it should operate nicely. It’s also missing prop rods. Has anyone seen one of these doors, and could you possibly point me to the manufacturer or a source of parts?
Ironically, it looks like the style is making a comeback – Bilco has one made of plastic – but I think mine is MANY years old.
Thanks!

This brings back memories of 40 years ago when a friend of my family was killed by a steel bulkhead door that fell on him. If I were you and wanted to use this door I'd replace all 4 springs and add that safety cable to each spring that garage doors have to have now. And don't forget the prop rod.
That's exactly the track I'm on - if I can't get it back to good condition, I'll replace it. I've already been having nightmares about it falling on me.
