Basement Ceiling Insulation for noise reduction

Any suggestion on insulation to use for a basement ceiling to reduce noise? Is open cell foam insulation a good option for this?
Thanks

I insulated the ceiling above what is our gym (in a basement room and is below my daughter's room) with Roxul mineral wool "safe and sound" (and 3/4 tongue/groove pine as the ceiling) and it does an excellent job at blocking transmission of the gym-quality Precor treadmill and tv to the floor above.
