For Your Consideration.
My daughter contracted to have a basement poured for a new home. I visited the site and saw two things that beg the following questions.
There was no visible coating on the exterior of the walls. When queried the installer said the newest way is to spray this clear coating on instead of parge or liquid asphalt.
IS THIS CURRENT SOP?
The perimeter of the base of the wall was filled with 1″ aggregate to a depth of about 24″ then covered with a healthy layer of plain old baled straw strewn by hand. No fabric barrier was installed before the backfill. Installer claims this is okay for our heavy clay soil.
