I’m want to replace two metal basement windows (32″X22.5″) with vinyl units. The old units were set in place when the walls were poured. How difficult will it be to remove these units? Any tips? Also, the closest replacements I’ve been able to locate so far are 32″X19″ at lowes and depot. Short of going to a custom window does anyone make replacements for these sizes? Thanks, keedman

recip saw with a metal blade will get those old windows out quick.
remove the sashes, make some cuts in the frame, and pry out the pieces.
and, IMO, you'd be better off ordering the custom replacement. It'll fit better, with less work. I like to shim them in place, and anchor them with expanding foam.
I was talking to a window guy on a job last year and he told me your situation comes up so often that the replacement window you need ( to fit in the metal frame and foam in) is available " off the shelf". This was in southern Ontario. Don't just check Lowes,,,,, call around to some local window guys or manufacturers.

agree. You ought to be able to grab that as a stock size from someone if you just check a couple of window suppliers. The old ones aren't embedded in the concrete much (well, not usually) and should, as mentioned, be pretty straightforward to pop out.
