Hello – I am redomodeling my bathroom and would like to cover the walls with these wide planks (8-12″) that my wife sees in all of the trendy catalogs (Pottery Barn, Eddie Bauer, etc.). Problem is I can’t seem to find. My local lumber yard is pretty big and it doesn’t carry so I expect that if I do find they will be quite pricey. I don’t really like the beadboard that is so prevalent in most baths.
Has anyone considered taking finish plywood and routing channels to give the T&G appearance? Or is it just my lumber yards (Michigan).
Any ideas appreciated.

I've used a few different things for this purpose. One is to get 1x8 or 1x10 tongue and groove or shiplap pine, prime the knots with a couple coats of BIN, and install with a small gap between boards.
A local mill will run poplar for us with a built-in "nickelgap" using their flooring t+g cutters.
I don't see why your plywood idea wouldn't work as well.
Try T-111 paneling--rough 4x8 sheets with grooves already routed, various profiles.
