I'm not real sure, but you could use Tapcons to screw the frame to the walls (into the block, not the mortar) or you could use lag screws into shields placed in drilled holes. I'm sure others will have more ideas.
You always place expansion type fasteners as close to and into a corner mortar joint. This is always a good place especially if you don't know if the block is filled or not. Please, for the rest of you please use your spell check. Those that don't make us all look illiterate.

What was misspelled? In whose message? Tapcons (I don't know for sure how to spell that) say to drive them into brick or block, not the mortar. Maybe they're wrong, but I try to follow what the manufacterer says in most cases. I only know how to apply spell check to edited messages and spell check doesn't help most of the time--like it didn't have "Tapcons". Anyway, if your message about spelling was really directed to me, well, EXCUUUUSE ME!!!!! Are you gonna check ar grammer next? (Yes, I know, three misspellings there, Professor.)
