I have a Myers SR1830 sewage ejector basin kit that I am installing in my basement. Getting ready to wet-set the basin and need advice on what is the most bulletproof waste pipe hub connection method. I currently have a 3″ ABS pipe and the basin has reducer grommets that would double up to accept the 3″ but I’m wondering if there is a better way.
Go with a 3″ to 4″ reducer bushing then into the basin with single grommet? Still looks like a little seepage into the pit could occur in a worst case scenario. Silicone on gasket??
I’m not sure if I could find a 5″ screw in bulkhead type fitting and then use a 3″-5″ Fernco style rubber fitting?
Overthinking things? Just goop it up and put it together?
Thanks!

I have a sewer ejector that came with a 3" stub molded into the side of the basin, and I just Fernco'd my 3" ABS to it. What do those grommets look like? If the instructions say it's OK to use them in tandem to get to 3" then I'd probably just do it.
FWIW I installed mine so as to be completely removable. It's set in a square blockout in my slab, and is set in sand. In a doomsday scenario I could remove the basin entirely and replace it without cutting concrete. I do not see *anything* lasting as long as concrete.
edit: thinking more... unless the instructions specifically say it's OK to use something aside from the grommets to connect, then I wouldn't do it.
I wouldn't worry so much about seepage as I would about one day having to service the pump. Yummy.

I found a 3" to 4" bushing and used a single grommet and some silicone sealant. Used a couple sacks of mortar in the bottom of the hole to wet set and level the base. Plan on adding some drain rock around the perimeter tomorrow. I decided that I have been procrastinating on that project too long and just went for it.I blocked out a 24"x24" square in the basement slab. Could remove the basin if necessary I guess. Not looking forward to the day that the ejector pump needs replaced...hopefully my son is a teenager by then. I'm sure he will need the exercise.
