I've been around the construction industry just about all of my life, but still don't feel as if I have a good handle on how to keep up to snuff on the latest and greatest ways to build. How can one get up to speed on "best practices" in the construction industry and stay current. Certainly FHB is a HUGE help. Are there other good publications, associations, training opportunities, conferences, etc.? any guidance would be appreciated.
*FHB and JLC (Journal of Light Construction). Talk to your vendors about what's new. Hire people who know a few things you don't and can convey it. Get references from this crowd on the better books out there. Any particular areas of home builder? Or soap to nuts?
*My family is in general residential and light commercial. My brother and I are considering going into restoration and property management. All in all, I'm interested in the soup to nuts of the industry.
