I’m going to get my new house as tight as possible with continuous poly and lots of foam and caulk against the advise of my builder, insulation installer, and HVAC guy. I asked the HVAC guy to suggest a way to bring in a CONTROLLED amount of fresh air for air changes during heating and cooling seasons. He said you have to be careful– that condensation will condense on a cold vent pipe and I’ll have all kinds of dripping and rusted ductwork. Best he could suggest was a pipe that came in the basement and runs to the basement floor and hope it finds it’s way throught the rest house or a Air-to-air exchanger which I’m convinced is not economical. So short of manually opening and closing windows what can you suggest as a way to bring in fresh air.
