Here’s a tip I ran across years ago. Place the metal guide track set in from the edge of the jamb one inch. Hang as usual(remembering to set the bottom supports in an inch). Trim the inch space with 3/4 square or (I prefer) 3/4 cove moulding set tight against the metal track. It hides the metal track and created a 1/4 inch reveal at the front of the jamb.Looks purty. Another practice I've seen is to cut the casing trim short so that instead of a reveal on the jamb the casing hangs over the jamb, maybe a half an inch or so, top and sides. I think you pay extra for this innovative trim detail. Not sure how many run-ins with the vacuum cleaner or other items tossed into closets that overhang can stand before it splits.
*Do either of you automatically stay away from the el cheapo hardware that comes in the box? All we get is the reg. hdwr, the one that's hops outta the bottom guide. I got to buying the Johnson 1700 hdwr. and am more than pleased with the easy install and the fact that the doors hang from the top. These have given me the no call back, my doors jumped out of the track, feeling I like. Wish they would just pack it in the box. Anyone need a bunch of that worthless hardware? Free?
