Went to drop off the smashed circ saw, and Lo and Behold its a Tool Rep/ Free Lunch day. I had already left the saw with the repair dept, and was told at least 3 weeks! Yikes.
So, I meandered to where the set up tents were being set up, saw Big azzed DW truck, and NASCAR car..and some dudes walkin around in Black and Yellow Shirts…I aske dthe first dude about the new batteries ( they WILL be here, in 3 weeks !!!!) , he let me try a 36V saw..yeah it rocks, but then he put the 18V NANO Ion batts in a 18v saw, and it was crazy strong, I mean I slammed it thru a 2×10 at corded speed,,,,any how, I was kinda telling him about my saw, and how it sucked taking 3 weeks..he just said, the manager from Louisville will be there at lunch, come on back then.
Well, I did..literally bumped into said manager, while having a free battery diagnostic, and he says, ” you must be Duane, I have your saw in my truck, you’ll have it back ina few days”
Holy Cow! “Oh,and this battery ( my marked DGK #1) is kaput, here, have a new one , on DeWalt”
So, now I’m thiinking, I NEED a radio/ charger, I ask him, how do I get a free radio? He says buy something..LOL I said OK, how about a Jig saw? He says, OK, and buy a 10 or 12″ saw blade, and ya get a free radio..
I got the 50 tooth combo thin kerf, a Jigsaw with 2 batts, a Radio with two Batts and two T-shirts..300.00 total!!!!!!!! Plus they’ll fix my saw under warrantee ( 2 yrs old) FREE.
Thats 5 batts in all. Ok, the scoop on the new Ions is that the new charger will charge old batts but not vicey versy..they weigh half as much, have 2x the time run and more Ummph. Same batt technology as GM’s ele cars will have.
Say what ya will about DeWalt, they took care of this ol boy today..BTW, I love the jigsaw, my 20 yr old Bosch barrel grip and cord can stay in the shop.
Happy Camper right here, real happy.

Well actually, I thought you meant she made a big score not that she was big.
Happy birthday to her!My brain + his brawn = a perfect team
Do a print screen of this thread and give it to the manager when you go to pick up your saw.
Then tell them about Ladyfire's fest.
Always good to get some freebee's
I would butI'll not see him again ( unless I see him at a show), they are sending the saw back to me when it's fixed.
But I still like the thinking about fest giv-a-ways. The guy in the Quick-Set store said " man, you got the deal of the day".
I'm still grinnin..Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Fabulosity. I was hoping when I saw the thread title that it was yours.
Glad it all worked out so well for you.
That sounds alot like the Ryobi setup, but that's not being introduced for a few days. I'm guessing they'll be the same inside.

Saw the Ryobi Lithium Ion kits at Home Depot today.
Didn't have time to really check them out, but, it was a four piece kit for $269 if I remeber right. Drill/driver, Recip, Circular, and Flashlight ?
Yep, I saw them too, but didn't get a chance to play with anything yet. I'm waiting for just the batteries to come out seperate, but that won't happen until Nov. 1.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Hey, it doesn't really count when you score with your DW. Besides which, this sort of discussion belongs in the Tavern.
Yer right, and after spending lunch with Ms. Makita, the DW was a rude awakening. LOLSpheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

I used to know Miss Makita '94. Her poster is still on the back wall of the local Makita service center. Yeah, she's THAT hot! Took a lot from her ex in the divorce, too. Just one of the problems with hot women, eh?
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
You mean she got all the tools???!!!
If your view never changes you're following the wrong leader
Tools, probably. Lots of money, half of the house (custom built- big time), etc. She's a model and I think she may have been a bit on the high maintenance side of things. Gorgeous, but HM. At least he isn't the only owner of the family business or she would have gotten half of that, too. This is Wisconsin, after all."I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."

Yeah, but it sounds to me like you just spent your "New Battery Savings Fund" on a radio and a bunch of old-style batteries, so how you gonna pop for those new-style batteries three weeks from now? ; - )
Nice score, though. Especially on the fast turn-around for the drop-saw! I had to repair mine (burnt switch) and those things are a royal PIA to tear down.

I'll find a way to finagle a few of the new batts, doanchoo worry..LOL.
They are sweet. they don't quite cover the whole hole where the old batts fit ( on the circ saw tool base I noticed) so I wonder if the different foot print is (A) a portend of things in the works and (B) what kinda cra, er stuff, will be getting in the plugin sockets...when using a diamond wheel in the cutoff tool, I generate a lot of brick dust, it finds it way in with a good fit as it is.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Did you say the Ions were lighter? I don't think that will do well for the poor (IMO) balance of the chordless tools.
I don't care about the balance as much as the tendonitis and such. Lighter is OK.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

you get tendonnitis (elbow?) and I get CTS issues. I miss my Makita 9.6v.
I had tendosynovitis in both forearms above the wrists, flexer tendons. Bad enough to have a cast on both arms at the same time. so, yeah, I try to be cautious now.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
