Hi, I need some help. I pulled up carpet at the entery door and have water damage on the hardwood floor. I have sanded all of the section but still have the black spots. Do I need to sand some more or bleach the area?

Usually what is recommended for removing black spots from wood is oxalic acid. You could probably do a search on past messages at the Knots forum to get info on how to use it. I think you make a wet paste and leave it on until it dries, then neutralize it with baking soda and rinse with water, but you'd be better off finding out for sure from someone who knows. Oxalic is poisonous, so precautions like gloves and goggles and not breathing the dust or fumes are in order.
On my 100 yr old wood floors, those black spots are discoloration from rusting iron nails, and nothing will remove them that will not destroy the wood. Replacement or "acceptance" are the only alternatives. Sorry.
