Replaced a door in a house built in the 60’s. All the casing and paneling in the rest of the house is blonde (if that’s the right terminology). The casing is actually metal with a faux finish.
I thought blonde oak casing would match it.
What is the process to make a blonde finish?

Uhh - so much occurs to me here . . .

Tell her you'll buy her some new shoes?
Yeah-there ought to be a good one in there somewhere.Gotta wonder about this place when a Prospero search turns up a bunch of blond jokes.
My camera is broke or I'd post some pics. The finish I'm after is more of an opague white one. Mostly white, but you can still see some grain.I picked up some Ben Moore pickling stain, but it just put more of a whitish tinge to the grain and no color to the rest.I'll try a wash coat first with the stain on top and see what that does.
It was simply too easy and obvious of a target.

Simply had to be done :)
"Uhh - so much occurs to me here . . ."You're gonna burn.
Or at least get warts.

If 'blonde' means whitewashed, then you need to go to a paint store and get some whitewash stain.
Or, if 'blonde' simply means a clear wood finish that has little or no color -- use varnish. Or super-blonde shellac. Or brushing lacquer.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)
hey craig this is a bit of say what ?? question . Respectfully , take some pictures and try to construct the question with the pic's . When your not sure of the nomenclature , and when trying to describe a blanket color as blond and actually metal with a faux finish. Your throwing a wide net there with not enough information.
Does the casing a sort of smaller brick molding configuration?? what type of doors or in the opening? you might have to look in the direction of a glaze again pic's help

It sounds like the wood has a whitish tinge to it. This is sometimes called 'piclking.' Check the Minwax line at the store; I'm pretty sure they have a kit for this.
thats a point... he probably should use a wash coat before the" pickling stain" , would even out the finish.
There are many wood colors/treatments that could be considered "blonde". Obviously, the simplest is a light-colored wood with a clear finish. After that there's wood bleach, bleaching with lye, and various opaque and semi-opaque finishes.
