I picked up a couple of doors from Lowes. Both of them were 32″ interior hollow 6 panel faux woodgrain variety.
I get them down into the basement – trim off the bottom of the casing with the circ saw and put the door into place.
“Ahh cripes harry! You measured the R.O. wrong!”
I can clearly see the factory sticker under the unmolested packaging and strapping. 32″ x 80″ interior 6 panel door.
Except for the door is actually a 30″ interior 6 panel door in 32″ wrapping!!! Oh well. It’s my own place so I’m just going to slap in the 30″ door instead of returning it to Lowes.
But anyway – here’s my question – is it possible to trim the bottom of one of these hollow core, molded 6 panel type doors? I need to take 1/2″ or so off the bottom.

If it's only a half inch you should be fine. It's when you trim past the interior fram of a hollow core that you have to rip a piece of something and slip it in with some glue to act as a filler.
What you said, yep.
Yea, you can take 1/2" off, but 9/16th and your probably screwed!
They dont put a whole lot of wood down there anymore.

Most hollow core doors have 1 1/4" of wood or MDF top and bottom.
In 22 years of running a lumberyard where we listed 'cutting doors" on our shop pricelist, I found the width of the filler board at head or foot was variable.
Set the door on the bench,
mark and score,
straight edge and cut,
look and see if we were lucky!
In later years there was less forgiveness.....yes on the 9/16" comment.

Just make sure that the casing will reach from the trimmer stud to the jamb. You've got another inch on each side to span.
To fill in the bottom of hollow core doors, I usually use the old bottom rail. Scrape or sand off whatever skin is still adhered. Slap on some wood glue and re-insert it. Clamp it until the glue dries. If I can't wait for glue to dry, I'll pin it with brads.
