I saw over in Quittin’ Time that there’s a Bluegrass hammer being auctioned, with some background on it.
I gotta admit, I’ve never heard of them except on this board. Are they some kind of local phenomenon, or have I just led a sheltered life? Where were they made?

Bluegrass was a house brand for Belknap Hardware, like Craftsman is for Sears.
Belknap Hardware was a hardware distributor in Lousiville, KY. I forgot how many states they covered, but probably about 1/4 - 1/3 the states centered around KY.
At the time they covered anything and everything that a small town store would sell except for pershables. I know that they carpet and furniture. And I think possibly caskets.
Anyway they have been out of business for 20 years.

thanks- I googled "Bluegrass hammers", but got nothing on hammers.
I've been wondering what all the hubbub was about.
