We just bought a try level. Brown siding, brown trim, brown roof, brown chimney. Do you folks have any great inexpensive ideas to jazz it up a bit? I was thinking of maybe an arbor over the front door, and plantings of course. maybe I should just cover up the house with vines!! LOL. Any ideas? TIA, Pamilyn

If you could post a picture or two, I bet you'll get some responses.
I don't know how you do that. It is a typical trylevel. You have seen them in every suburb is America. Walk into living, kitchen. Walk up three steps to the bedrooms and walk down three steps to the family room. PamilynThe purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls
Trim and accents give something for the eye to focus on and details to extract from the structure. Find some interesting colors or shades that will go with your existing browns. You can then pick aand choose things to paint, like door panels, window trim, roof flashing, etc.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

The windows are new and trimed in brown aluminum to match the brown siding which is also new. I don't want to paint the trim. It is all low maintenence right now. I will never have to paint the house (Or trim)The purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls
Look for a tri-level in your neighborhood that has details or styling you like and copy it.
Well, if everything is already brown... and you don't want to change it... well there you have it.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

You're looking for advice on a very vague question but then say you aren't willing to make changes. What exactly were you expecting people to offer?
Oh....we are willing to make changes all right. I just don't want to re-side the whole house. I didn't know you could re-wrap the window trim. I thought if we wanted the trim color changed we would have to replace the windows. A very expensive option. I will try and post a picture and be more clear on what we are trying to do. Thanks. Have the window wraps re done in the color you like, then maybe some shutters. Or even some window planter boxes.
Having the windows rewrapped is a inexpensive change. Depending on your area maybe $50 a window or so.
I didn't know you could do that. That would make a huge difference. We really like white trim. I am going to try and post a picture. Thanks. PamilynThe purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls
Depending on the kind of windows they are, you may or may not be able to rewrap them. If they are replacements you will be able to.
Get us a picture, so we can see what the problem is. Hail to the victors.
Boring try level or boring tri level, two different meaning.
If it's boring brown, tear it down and build something interesting.
Next question.

Bore-ing into this thread, I can't tell whether it's about bi-ing a level, or tri-ing one out on a board.

get one of those big commerical gas stoves and leave it on, can we say insurance
If you want to get ideas from someone who can't come and look at your house your gonna have to get a picture of it, even if the ideas don't come from us here at BT.
Take some pictures of the house. Take the film to the drugstore and get a CD made of the pics. Here at BT, enter a new message, and just below the text entry window click on the Attach Files button. A pop up window will come up. Where it says Enter Filename to upload: click on the Browse button. Find your picture file to be uploaded and attached to your text posting. Click Upload, and once it finishes, click Done.
I really think you will be delighted at the ideas you get once people see a pic of the house. often times people here will even take your pic and sketch right over it to give you a visual of the ideas they are presenting. With no pic, well... you see the response you got...
Sounds like what you are interested in are some accents to create some interest - that would work. If it is a vinyl house, they have all kinds of accents that can be applied to the facade to spice it up a bit. As I say though - it's all a visual process. Share a pic and tell us how your tastes run or if you have any specific goals - modern, colonial, craftsman, transitional, eclectic, whatever... If you want some kind of pergolia somebody here will sketch you one. Maybe even some landscaping or hardscaping?
