Why does someone make a tool /radio with a cord that will not stand up to cold weather,I mean it gets so stiff you can not roll it up.

Cheaper. Wonder what else they cheap up?
The switch on their 1617 router. My tool guy said that it's the one fatal flaw on that router, it's a cheap POS from overseas. He gave me a second switch so that I wouldn't have any down time each time it gets clogged with dust and stops working. I have to pop it out, put in the new one, and then take the old one apart and clean it out before the other one clogs again. So they save $.10 cents a switch and I curse their name for being a quality company that again cuts corners so they can to make a fast buck. Way of the world I guess. That cord on the radio is really stiff all year round on mine. I usually don't bother unraveling it any more. I just leave it clipped to itself and plug an extension cord into it if I can.Paul
That drives me CRAZY!! Need to run a simple piece of trim and it takes 15 min cause I gotta clean the switch, rock it back and forth threee hundred times, and blow as much dust out as I can.
Love the router, hate the switch.
I've been through the same thing with tools. One thing I've done is with tools that I use a lot is to put my own cords on them.
Go find a cold weather extension cord or just get some off a reel and change it out.
If you use it alot it's one less extension cord you will just use for the radio anyways.
I still have to use extension cords for tools, but alot less.
