What’s the latest on the bosch cordless impact driver that is suppose to be coming to market?
I’ll be needing another cordless drill sometime and you’alls take on the impact may be the deciding factor over itself or going with the panasonic drill.

not exactly sure I follow your second sentance, but
Panasonic makes a great drill and a great impact driver - I have four of the 12 volt drills and one of the 12 volt impact drivers Their newest 12 volt impact driver (not the one I have) has two power settings, built in belt hook, built in LED light AND if I remeber correctly it comes with the 3.5 amp hour nickle metal hydride batterys.
Don't have experience with the Bosch impact drivers that are out - all my Bosch is 18 volt and they don't have an 18 volt impact - yet - just got word that they are supposed to come out with an 18 volt impact sometime in 2005 - no word weather that is Jan or Dec though
Never have been one noted for exceptional clarity. Was meaning what you'all say will affect what I buy.
I take it the panasonic impact driver can double as a drill?

Rez, just wasn't sure if you already had some cordless from either Panasonic or Bosch
I use my 12 volt Panasonic impact driver for just about everything - but it must have a 1/4" hex shank - no chuck on this model.
The 15.6 volt Panasonic is a bit bigger and more versatile. Comes with chuck adapters - several people here have and like the 15.6 Panasonic - I bought the 12 volt because I have a lot of 12 volt Panasonic batteries and I wanted something compact for screwing cabinet face frames together when doing kitchen installs
The Bosch is brand new to the market and therefore I have not seen many reviews - but hey its Bosch, I'd bet its good
If you really need a drill, the Makita impact is a nice unit and has some kind of rebate offer now that they throw in a drill when you buy the impact - think I saw mention of this in another thread - Amazon $209?
I don't think I would settle for just a drill though - you gotta have an impact driver!
Good luck - sure others should chime in soon
Nah, I do bosch and try to contain the cordless tool flow to brands as much as possible.
But if the panasonic is that much better of a tool I'd go there also.
the panasonic is better than the Bosch...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
I haven't tried the new Bosch, but I have a 12v Mak that I bought two years ago. This spring I needed another impact driver (decks, ya gotta have more than one) and chose the 15.6 v Panasonic with the chuck, and brother does it rock. I haven't used the Mak in some time. In fact, I'll probably bring it in out of the cold for the winter so the batteries won't die. The only catch to the Panasonic drill is that you shouldn't have it in impact mode when drilling (there's a slide switch to disable impact mode) or you will lock up the chuck.
Panasonic. Impressive.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
i have had 2 makita impact drivers. last month i got the panasonic. my second makita uses a battery that is 2.6 amp hrs and they do not last very long -either between charging or useful life. the pan is 3.5 amp hour. i am making far fewer trips to the charger. one of the other posters mentioned the lite and dual speed switch. at first i thought them gimmicky but the lite is great, especially when using inside a cabinet and the dual mode really works. less power for softer or thinner materials (pine, masonite )and more power for harder (fir, 4*4, lags). i already had the pan 15.6 drill with the 3.5 amp batterys and they just keep on getting on. jacobs makes ####chuck-$20- for the impact drivers as does makita-40-. one can get drill bits and spade bits with the hex fitting as well. the bosch runs a 2.0 battery . i dont know how long it would run tween chargeing.
I just saw that new bosch in my favorite tool store reecently, I havent used it yet but it sure feels nice. Anyone know what that goofy looking red thing on the side is?! i think its some kind of belt clip or somthing but it looks pretty breakable. And about the panasonic 15.6v if you all are talking about the one that has a big chuck on it too, I personally dont like it. I love that classic 15.6v driver but the combo driver is a bit bulky-->
measure once
scribble several lines
spend some time figuring out wich scribble
cut the wrong line
get mad
Hey, since you already had a 12v panasonic did you get in on that Amazon special last month?"Live Free, not Die"
Has anyone tried the Hitachi?
Yeah, got two. I got myself a Makita and love it. Several months later I saw the Hitachi and really liked the way it felt and looked. Since I already had mine I bought 2 of them for a couple of my guys for Christmas. I really like the built in belt hook.
I have the 12v Hitachi. It's awesome. 'Nuff said.
Don't know the special you are reffering to - and not sure I want to since it was LAST month

Interesting that they've raised the price 40bucks over the original sale price.

Oh, that deal.
Yeah, I held off on that one, as I already have 3 drills and chargers, and that one only came with 1.2 amp hour batteries - I'm kinda partial to the 3 or 3.5 amp hour batteries.
At the original price of $50 though it was still a pretty good deal.
