My Bosch, different model, has a switch that has off and 2 or 3 amouints of orbital action.

thr orbit action is switch controled...

WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
on the left side of the body is a lever, move the lever to #3 and that is max orbital action. you shold see the small wheel be hind the blade move a little when you do this.
the salesperson and i both moved the lever, but to no avail. it doesnt do anything. this works on my partners, just fine , but all i tested dont work. has anyone hand this problem. thanks for your help, gcrow.
What does the orbital action do/accomplish? I have the barrel grip model of the saw, and I have the lever to control the orbital action. But I've never understood what it did.
Instead of going straight up and down in orbital mode the blade move back and down on the down stroke and forward and up on the up stroke. It cuts faster, but rougher.

I can tell without looking wheather my jigsaw is in orbit mode or not.
If not in orbit it doesnt cut wood near as well as if it is, and the non orbit action is better for cutting metal. Same as your riciprical saw.

thats one reason i bought the bosch , for the orbiting action. ive seen it in action and it is great. dont understand if there is a problem with this action , on the latest models. has anyone purchased one lately with the same problem?
My ten year old bosch quit orbiting after using it with a diamond blade in it and running a stream of water on the blade to lube/cool it. Orbiting was a great feature while it lasted.Lately I am using blades that cut on the downstroke (cutting to a precise line on 1/4" template stock) and they dont work with orbiting action so it hasn't really been that big a loss to me.Karl
thanks to all for your help. iam meeting with a factory rep next week, with a fresh one right out of the box. iam taking my partners, which woeks correctly and the rep is bringing one. so between all these bosch jigsaws maybe we can come to a happy conclusion. i just want one that works right. thanks to everyone. gerry
