Just got a Paslode Impulse cordless framing nailer. I am happy. But then, I went to Homer to buy an assortment of nails and found that the smallest amount I could purchase was something around 6,000 nails for $.60 bucks. Two questions: Can nails be found for this nailer in smaller amounts, say 1,000? Can one use Senco’s collated nail strips with Paslode gun?
Big orange gun. Can’t afford nails!

Steam it 10 minutes and serve with drawn butter.
I've never seen framing nails in less than $50 boxes. -David
*They figure if you got the bucks to buy the lobster, you can afford the wine to go with it.Ed. Williams
*yes you can use sencos nails
*You might also want to check out ToolCrib--get the actual catalog, not the online Amazon one. They used to sell "jobpacks" of different nails; 500 or 1000 of a given size instead of the huge boxes. Cost's more per nail, but hey, if that's what you want, that'd be the place to go.
*...did someone mention "lobster"?
*You can use Senco nails, but I'm not sure you can find them in less than 2,500 a box. You could always split them with somebody else since Sencos are fairly popular.fv
*I have several boxes of nails for lobsters...nya...nya..nya..lobsters...The best thing to do is make sure the butter is nice and hot....near the stream,aj
*6,000 nails sounds like a lot. You will shoot them up in no time. Put another way, if you do enough nailing to justify the gun then you will need the nails.
*A variety of nail sizes at 6,000 a pop might be a bit of work for an airless. Generally, the guys who use those don't do much production, maybe a bit of framing here and there amidst a remodel... Now with a bit of hot butter, them nails might sink faster!fv
*The Lobster, that's how we refer to Impulses at FHB! Thought we'd invented the term, but I guess not. I have a regular old Paslode framing gun, and I've run thousands of Interchange brand nails through it with no trouble.Andy
*Interrestingly enough, the Paslodes will take the Senco nails, better than the Sencos will take the Paslode nails.fv
*You might check out your local tool rental store for small quantities of nails. The local ACE hardware store has a rental area that sells nails by the individual "stick" and I bought one each of several sizes to try out on my Senco SFN-1. They had coated and uncoated nails of various sizes and lengths. I don't remember what they charged and I doubt that it would be cost effective to buy many that way, but for a test of a seldom used size, it was a lot better than buying a whole carton.
*Andy, in reference to the bright orange nailer in question, I learned the term "lobster" from FHB as you say. What a perfect monicker for this tool. Thanks for the post,14-0
*My yard sell generic nails (air nail, gun nail?) for about 22 bucks a box. Seem to do fine in my senco.
