Hey,
Well, I went to Lowes (doh!)today to pick up their last heavily discounted ($229) Delta 13†planer. Turned out to be a demo, no box or instructions (guy didn’t tell me that when I called.) Asked them to get Delta on the phone so make sure I’d be mailed the instructions. Humm, wonder if I have all the parts?
(Worth mentioning that although my in-store experience today was lousy as typical, I called the LOWES CARES or whatever the toll free corporate line is, and Phillip was extremely helpful finding a store with the planer I wanted still in stock.)
Anyway, I noticed at store that the Delta 12†compound miter saw was also specially priced, probably another discontinued model –
#36-312.
Can’t find reviews but it seems like a good, well made buy at $199. Planned on the DeWalt 706 but for a non-pro, occasional user that’s probably overkill anyway. Anybody familiar with that model?
BTW, I am poor right now…looking for bargains as I tool back up after divorce.
Babblin’ On,
Todd

Metabo makes a 16 inch mitre saw? I have never heard of such an animal nor have spotted the like on their web site.
BTW...
I also have Grumman, Rockwell, Ingersoll, Thor, Sioux, Porter Cable, Delta, Oliver, Boise Crane, Rigid, Elu and a few others...

Thanks for the prompt response. Thought it might be something like that. Was wondering if maybe you had some of those orange tools sold from the big orange box.
None of those...

it's a chop saw ... what do ya think he'll be cutting with it that'll break it?
It's a decent low end saw ... get a good blade ... change it when need be ...
He'll be just fine.

Curious...Delta in general or just that model?
It's in the "Industrial" line, thought it was a step up from their bottom crap.

Go to the delta web site, you can download the instructions and print them off. I threw all mine away and replaced them by downloading them, three hole punching them and keeping them all in one binder called "tool docs" the wife just laughs her a$$ when she see's that.
I've had a delta chopsaw now for 3 years, works fine for me.
Yeah, I figured I could do that but felt like being a little pricky and making them call.
The gal working in the tool department sure didn't go out of her way to be helpful. I've only had a good experience once with the help at my local Lowes.

I bought the same planer. I've heard nothing but good things about it from a lot of people. I'm sure your gonna love it.
